Not a subcategory of Mechanical calculators[edit]

Slide rules are, strictly speaking, not mechanical calculators, or are they? Slide rules are analog devices, whereas mechanical calculators are digital. So, this category should not be a subcategory of Category:Mechanical calculators, or should it?! — Nol Aders (talk) 19:48, 9 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Pictures of digital (cryptographic) devices are misplaced in this category[edit]

Some pictures in this category depict cryptographic 'slide rules', i.e. digital devices, whereas the term slide rule, strictly speaking, refers to an essentially analog calculating aid. IMHO these should go into another category. I should say, that should be a 'sibling' category to this one.

Created new subcategories Digital slide rule and Cryptographic slide rule, and recategorized these images in the latter. — Nol Aders (talk) 01:50, 12 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
