管理者は、画像やページをロックして"保護"できる権限があります。
保護されたページを編集できるのは、
あるいは
- ”完全な保護”の場合には、管理者のみ。
この行使力は、荒らし行為や編集合戦などの抗争を避けるために利用され、臨時的に保護のON・OFFをコントロールします。
ただし、メインページや、the Designated Agent information for copyright violatorsのような重要なページは例外であり、それらは常に保護された状態になっています。
保護記録のログを見ると、「誰が」「どのページを」「どんな理由」で保護したのか、確認することができます。
- カスケード連鎖保護：
Note, いくつかのページには、カスケード連鎖保護があります。 This is used for high visibility pages and in other ways as admins determine it to be necessary. Cascading protection automatically full-protects any page (e.g., template or image) that is currently transcluded onto the protected page. Because of this, cascading semi-protection should not be used under any circumstances, as it enables non-sysops to fully protect pages by transcluding them on cascading semi-protected pages [1].
- ページ保護ロックのリクエスト：
- 誰か管理者にお願いするか、管理者の掲示板-ブロック＆保護（英語）で保護リクエストを提出してください。
- ページ保護の解除リクエスト：
- まず初めに、そのページを保護（ロック）した管理者に尋ねてください。
- 応答がない場合には、他の管理者に尋ねるか、管理者の掲示板-ブロック＆保護（英語）で解除リクエストを提出してください。
