No, a dirty lens would create low contrast maybe (but even then, not usually noticeable), but not focus problems. At f/8, I don't think it is because of a low DoF either. Usually poor focus on one side of the frame is because there is a problem with the lens, perhaps a lens element no aligned correctly. Have you seen this problem with any other photos before?
