Scope Nominated as the most valued image on Commons within the scope:
IndiGo Airbus A320neo VT-IJB
Used in

Global usage

en:IndiGowikidata:Q111792295
Reason Of the two images in the , this one is sharper and a QI. The letters "VT" in the registration number are partly obscured, but this is implicit as IndiGo is an Indian airline and VT is the registration prefix for India. The full registration number is visible in the other image. -- Tagooty (talk)

  •  Comment The scope is far too specific. Firstly, there is nothing in the image to tell me that it is starting its take-off roll as opposed to say just finishing landing. For this reason, I suggest removing "starting take-off roll" from the scope. Secondly, as of March this year, IndiGo owned 142 Airbus A320neo aircraft and had another 204 on order. All are identical apart from three letters painted on the fuselage (rather like a car's numberplate). For this reason I advocate dropping "VT-IJB" from the scope. As a result, I suggest that the scope should be "Airbus A320neo in IndiGo colours". Martinvl (talk) 14:32, 6 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Martinvl: Thanks for the comments. (1) Unlike a car, an individual commercial plane is notable. It costs ~$100m, every flight is tracked and available in public (e.g. flightradar24). This plane may be involved in an incident such as a crash, use by some notable person, etc. which may result in a write up in a Wiki article. Individual planes have/appear in Wikipedia articles. Many have Commons CATs. Hence, IMO a VI of VT-IJB is appropriate. (2) There are indications that this is a take-off roll: looking at the geotag location in Google Maps and the wall in the background, it is clear that it can only be take-off (or taxiing). Agreed that these are subtle indications.
Would a scope of "Airbus A320neo VT-IJB in Indigo colours -- on runway" be good? Would appreciate comments. --Tagooty (talk) 03:39, 7 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • @Tagooty: When looking for suitable scope descriptors, think about which articles would use this image. It is certainly suitable for a translation of the article en:Airbus A320neo family. It is also suitable for a translation of the article en:IndiGo. In both of these cases, pictures of aircraft registation VT-IJB could be replaced by similar pictures of aircraft VT-IZX with no change to the meaning of the article. That is why I said that the aircraft registration does not matter. A similar argument holds with respect to the aircraft action. Does this explain things? Okay. I've modified the scope to remove the "take-off". --Tagooty (talk) 10:27, 9 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
