東港の竹筏 （臺灣）

臺灣の竹は偉大であり長大である。南部地方では壁の柱、屋の棟、總て木材の代りに竹を用ひ大黑柱の如きも大きい竹を使ふ。舟も竹ばかりで作つたものがある。土語でテツパイといふ。テツパイとは竹筏の意である。傳へていふ、昔、昔の又昔、鼠が笹の葉を含んで濁水溪を渡つた。それをみた人間がいろいろ考へてこのテツパイを作り出したのだと。｜（一九二七、五撮影）（印畫の複製を禁ず）
