Fort York was sited to guard the mouth of the bay. Garrison Creek has since been filled in. Since this map was made the shoreline has been moved due to several hundred yards of landfill. The headwaters of the creek lie near St Clair and Ossington.
Site of the Town of York, Upper Canada. Taddle Creek flows near the north of the town site. The creek's headwaters lies just north of University of Toronto. In the southwest corner of the townsite was Upper Canada's first legislature, a one-floor red brick building. York was briefly occupied by Americans, during the war of 1812. Americans burned the legislature. The British would later burn the White House and other Government buildings in Washington DC in retaliation.
Gibraltar Point Blockhouse -- a cannon capable of firing hot shot was established here.
