English: 1st Lt Gene F. White, Tulsa, OK, checks his B-29 "Superfort" gun sight after flying his final bombing mission over North Korea. In addition to his duties as a bombardier, Lt White fired two turrets of .50 caliber machine guns from his remote controlled sighting station. During his combat tour, this veteran of World War II flew 28 missions with the Japan based U.S. Air Force 98th Bomb Wing. His missions took him to a wide variety of communist targets, ranging from frontline support of UN troops, through MiG Alley, to the southern banks of the Yalu River. He is now enroute to the United States for a new duty assignment.
