English: A draught of the Great Bay, Back Bay, and harbour of Trincomalay, on the island of Zeloan, describing all the islands, rivers, rocks and dangerous shoals, with exact marks for the shoals, & also the marks to avoid them; likewise the depths of water, and other necessary remarks, with great care and accuracy survey'd and planned in the year 1762, by William Nichelson.Sectioned folding sheet. Hand col. engr. Medium: Paper cut into rectangles and glued onto linen backing for folding in a map case. Physical description Note: Blue sea discoloured to green. Fort and buildings in red. Scale: [ca. 1:22 500]. Cartographic Note: North at 93 degrees. Ungraduated. Lat & long for one position noted, with variation. Rhumb lines. Scale in English miles. Clearing lines. Soundings, sandbanks and shoals. Additional Places: Sri Lanka, Trincomalee. Contents Note: 2 views. Text boxes: References, Remarks, Directions.
