Summary[edit]

Description
English: U.S. Navy aircraft assigned to Carrier Air Wing 2 (CVW-2) fly alongside Peruvian Air Force aircraft during a photo exercise above the aircraft carrier USS George Washington (CVN-73). George Washington was deployed as a part of exercise "Southern Seas 2015". The eighth deployment of its kind, Southern Seas seeks to enhance interoperability, increase regional stability, and build and maintain regional relationships with countries throughout the region through joint multinational and interagency exchanges and cooperation.

The follwoing aircraft are visible (l-r):

  • Boeing F/A-18E Super Hornet from Strike Fighter Squadron 137 (VFA-137) "Kestrels", also Commander CVW-2;
  • McDonnell Douglas F/A-18C(N) Hornet from VFA-34 "Blue Blasters";
  • Mikoyan-Gurevitch MiG-29S from Escuadrón Aéreo 612, Air Force of Peru;
  • F/A-18E from VFA-192 "Golden Dragons";
  • Dassault Mirage 2000 DP from Escuadrón Aéreo 412, Air Force of Peru;
  • EA-18G Growler from Electronic Attack Squadron 136 (VAQ-136) "Gauntlets".
