  • Significance: Ampere Station was of the 53 NJ TRANSIT rail stations listed on the National Register...It was an excellent example of late 19th century railroad architecture as designed by the Delaware Lackawanna and Western Railroad. Ampere Station precipitated the development of a community surrounding the station which was then named Ampere.

...played a significant role in the D. L. & W.'s pioneering efforts in the use of reinforced concrete for railroad use. The station is also significant for its historical associations with Francis B. Crocker and Schuyler S. Wheeler of the Crocker-Wheeler Company, pioneers in the early development of the application of electricity...
