English: Marble bust of Archbishop Robert Knox by Joseph Whitehead on an arch, surrounded by multiple memorial plaques. Inscription: “The Most Rev. Robert Knox, D.D., born 1808, Bishop of Down and Connor and Dromore 1849, Archbishop of Armagh and Primate of All Ireland 1886, died Oct. 23 1893.” Other plaques in clockwise order starting with the upper right plaque: “1845 – 1916. To the honoured memory of Thomas Osborne Marks, Mus:Doc: who for 42 years was organist of this cathedral, and for over 60 years consecrated his gifts to the glory of God in this place.“ Lower right: “To the Glory of God and in loving memory of Francis George Le Poer McClintock, B.D., Dean of this cathedral 1908–1924. Through his exertions the chancel screen was erected and other improvements carried out. I have loved the habitation of thy house and the place where thine honour dwelleth.” Lower left: “In dear remembrance of Harriet beloved wife of Charles Frederick D’Arcy, Archbishop of Armagh. While at sea her spirit passed to God and her body was laid to rest in the deep of the Atlantic Ocean Lat. 23·40 N, and Long. 47·44 W / 23.67°N 47.733°W / 23.67; -47.733 on 20th July 1932. Underneath are the everlasting arms.” Upper left: Charles Wood 15th June 1866 – 12th July 1926. Born in Armagh and baptised in this cathedral church where as a boy he sang in the choir. Composer, Professor of Music, Cambridge University. This tablet was erected by the friends of the cathedral to commemorate the centenary of his birth 1966.” (See Kevin V.
