Description
English: AWM Caption: Java Sea. 15 February 1942. Bomb spray surrounds the Royal Netherlands cruiser, Java, during a Japanese air attack. The Dutch ship was one of the ships involved in the operations against the Japanese in the Java Sea. She was hit by a torpedo from Japanese Cruiser Nachi, blew up and sank on the 27 February. Nederlands: De Javazee op 15 februari 1942. Bommen vallen tijdens een Japanse aanval links en rechts rond de kruiser Hr.Ms. Java . De Hr. Ms. Java was één van de schepen die betrokken waren bij acties tegen de Japanse aanwezigheid in de Javazee. De Hr.Ms. Java werd op 27 februari 1942 geraakt door een torpedo afkomstig van de Japanse kruiser Nachi en zonk.
