Description
English: Col. Frank Donovan, left, commanding officer of the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit explains the use of the Expeditionary Fire Support System aboard USS Iwo Jima to Maj. Gen. Ed Davis, the United Kingdom's Commandant General of the Royal Marines and Commander Amphibious Forces during ship visit by Davis, May 15, 2012. Donovan, along with U.S. Navy Capt. Mark Scovill escorted Davis during his visit here to meet with Marines and sailors and learn about the capabilities of the 24th MEU and the Iwo Jima Amphibious Ready Group. The 24th MEU and Iwo Jima ARG are deployed as the U.S. Central Command theater reserve force. The group is providing support for maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. Navy's 5th Fleet area of responsibility.
