Notes
  • Significance: The Custis-Maupin Necessary House is one of the original 88 buildings of Colonial Williamsburg. Originally located on the Taliaferro-Cole property, it was moved in the 1930's to a lot west of the Custis-Maupin site. During the early 1960's it was moved again, to its present location. The Necessary House dates from the late eighteenth-early nineteenth century, was renovated in 1928 and again in April 1980.
