Notes
  • Significance: The Smith Bridge is a steel pin-connected Pratt through truss. It is 116' in length and 12'3" in width. The bridge was constructed c. 1915-18 probably by the Champion Bridge Company, due to the present two holes on the northeast inclined end post. The Champion Bridge Company affixed their bridge plates in this manner as evidenced on other bridges in the State. The bridge is in poor condition. The Smith Bridge is one of thirty-five Pratt through trusses identified on the Georgia Historic Bridge Inventory, one of four found within a twenty-one county area in northeast Georgia, and one of two Pratt through trusses recorded in Union County. Smith Bridge is representative of Pratt through trusses constructed between 1892 and 1930.
  • Survey number: HAER GA-55
  • Building/structure dates: ca. 1915- 1918 Initial Construction
