Notes
  • Significance: The Joe Pfeiffer Homestead, built in the southeastern portion of Grand Teton National Park, was an excellent representation of late-period homesteading. Little change was made during the years and electricity and modern agricultural implements were never a part of the homestead. After 1962 all buildings were in a state of decay. Basic elements of man's relationship to environmental surrounds in a frontier situation remained intact, and the Joe Pfeiffer Homestead was used as an environmental study for local school children. In September of 1994, a fast moving sagebrush and grass fire broke out burning 2,000 acres in Grand Teton National Park which destroyed the Joe Pfeiffer Homestead.
