Announcement at the end of catalogues of King James and the Duke of Buckingham's collections from the same publisher, 1758, note the publication of a "second" or "new" edition of the King Charles catalogue with measures, valuation, and prices received, all of which are included in this publication

Library's c. 1 and 2 have bound with them: A Catalogue of the collection of pictures, &c. belonging to King James the Second (London, 1758); and c. 1 has additionally bound in: Catalogue of the curious collection of pictures of George Villiers, Duke of Buckingham (London, 1758), copy 2
Library's c. 2 has marginal annotations in ink, usually indicating disposition of the items described. The annotations appear to have been made prior to the present binding as some have lost conclusions through trimming. Copy 2 assembled with pages [1]-8 (appraisal) bound in between p. 182 and p. 183, following text, preceding indexes
Library's c. 2 has photograph inserted showing an oaken box lid (?) with a stamp "Windsor Castle Inventory 1832 No 2013" and various endorsements: CR, CP, V.R (the first two surmounted by a crown). An old label reads: Mary Queen of [Scots] / by Samuel (remainder rubbed out). A later label reads: Stuart Exhibition at the New Gallery, 1888-9. / Title, Mary Queen of Scots / 'Le Chevall blanc' / Lent by Her Majesty the Queen / Reg. No. 1-17." Written on verso: To go in book (Chas II) 1 ... HP; also stamp in purple ink: Superintendent's Office Windsor Castle

Binding, c. 2: calf, repaired. Fillets along edges of boards in gilt. Spine tooled in gilt; red spine label with title: CATALOGUE / OF K. CHARLES / & K. JAMES'S / PICTURES. The edges sprinkled brown. Clifford Duits's oval green label at foot of front free endpaper, embossed through the leaf
Binding, c. 3: marbled paper, half calf. Black spine label with a title in gilt. At upper right corner of front free endpaper recto is stamp in red ink of W.E. Duits, whose embossed stamp appears at lower right corner of t.p., 1st title. Signature of Henry Farrer above imprint on t.p. of 1st title, dated 1837; it occurs again on t.p. of 2nd title, over the older signature of George Climpson. Also on t.p. of 2nd title is signature of J.V. Rymsdyk. At upper right corner of front free endpaper recto is stamp in red ink of W.E. Duits, whose embossed stamped appears at lower right corner of t.p. On back free endpaper is pencilled signature of Ellen Farrer
