Summary[edit]
DescriptionGlacial lake Iroquois.jpg |
An image Lake Ontario showing the low-lying area that was covered by Glacial Lake Iroquois and how it overflowed down the valley of the Mohawk River. Due to the outflow of Glacial Lake Iroquois the Mohawk Valley is the only route navigable by water, across the Appalachian mountains. This enabled the building of the original Erie Canal. The image was prepared by the US Army to illustrate the US military's archaeological efforts at Fort Drum, which includes a section of the shoreline of Lake Iroquois. |
