Description |
English: H.M. George IV passing Yarmouth on his return from Edinburgh, 1822 William Joy was born in Great Yarmouth and educated there at Wright's Academy along with his brother John Cantiloe Joy with whom he later collaborated. Soon after his accession, George IV visited Scotland, becoming the first monarch to do so since Charles II. Presumably Joy, still living in Yarmouth, was able to witness the return of the King in the 'Royal George' yacht. The drawing is signed. |
