Deutsch: Südostansicht des Kraftwerkes Ybbs-Persenbeug in Niederösterreich und rechts das Schloss Persenbeug.
Der Haupteil des Kraftwerkes (Staumauer, Maschinenhäuser, etc.) befindet sich auf dem Gemeindegebiet von Ybbs an der Donau und Hofamt Priel. Auf dem Gemeindegebiet von Persenbeug-Gottsdorf befindet sich nur ein Teil der Schleusenanlage. Die Arbeiten für das Laufkraftwerk wurden 1938/39 begonnen, im Zweiten Weltkrieg unterbrochen und ab 1954 fortgesetzt. 1959 erfolgte die Inbetriebnahme als erstes Wasserkraftwerk der Österreichischen Donaukraftwerke. Die rd. 460 m lange Staumauer bei Stromkilometer 2.060,42 staut die Donau auf eine Länge von rund 34 km bis zu einer Höhe von 10,9 m auf. Das Kraftwerk hatte ursprünglich sechs Hauptmaschinensätze mit senkrecht eingebauten Kaplan-Turbinen mit einer Leistung von etwa 200 MW. In den 1990er Jahren wurde ein weiterer Maschinensatz mit horizontal eingebauter Kaplan-Rohrturbine installiert, der eine Leistung von 48 MW hatː [1].
