Summary[edit]

Description
English: Philippine and U.S. Marines wait to board an Amphibious Assault Vehicle aboard the USS Green Bay for a regimental beach landing April 18, during exercise Balikatan 2015. Marines from both countries rehearsed once per day for three days before performing a simulated amphibious assault on April 21, demonstrating their combined ship-to-shore procedures. Balikatan is an annual bilateral training exercise with the U.S. and the Philippines aimed at enhancing readiness and military-to-military relations, territorial defense, and humanitarian assistance and disaster response operations. The U.S. Marines are attached to 3rd Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force, for exercise Balikatan. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Cpl. Devon Tindle/Released)
