Notes
  • Significance: It was originally the Stewart, Robinson, and Co. General Store. The lot purchased in 1850 by William Stewart from Andrew Boggs, founder of Saltsburg, was adjacent to the Pennsylvania Mainline Canal, and the general store was built sometime in the 1850s. It is popularly known as the "Mule Barn," and that is part of its presumed original function: housing the mules that pulled the canal boats. Lock 8 of the Western Division was located just upcanal from the warehouse, and two boatyards, including Myer's Boat Yard across Market Street from the barn...
