English: U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Travis Lausier, left, and Spc. Jason Hayes, both from the Japan District Veterinary Command, Misawa Branch, draw blood from Banks, while his handler, Teresa MacPherson comforts her partner. MacPherson and Banks are attached to the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department, Virginia Task Force 1 and arrived at Misawa Air Base to take part in search-and-rescue efforts in Sendai, Japan. The vets will run a fluorescent antibody viral neutralization test to determine the dog's rabies antibody titer so they can verify the dog is in compliance with the government of Japan's strict regulations for entry into the country. |
