Description
Svenska: Kabinettskåp var under 1500- och 1600-talen en spektakulär statusmöbel. De är exempel på tidens lyxhantverk, ofta tillverkade i exklusiva och exotiska material. Skåpen har många lådor och fack, ofta med dolda lönnfack. I skåpen förvarades exempelvis konstföremål, naturalier och andra märkvärdiga ting, De blev tillsammans med sitt innehåll ett slags kuriosakabinett.
Kabinettskåp med blindträ av ek, fanerat med ebenholts med inläggningar av elfenben. Skåpet har staden Augsburgs stämpel, en pinjekotte och EBEN. Det är en kvalitetsgaranti, som skiljer möbler av äkta ebenholts från imitationer av materialet, till exempel svartbetsat päronträ.
Skåpet har ett krön i form av arkitektonisk gavel med en dörr och sex kulformiga fötter. Två dörrar med gångjärn av förgylld mässing. På sidorna kraftiga handtag av brons.
I mittpartiet finns en dörr med en låda över och en under. På vardera sidan finns en kolonn som döljer en rad med sex mindre lådor, inuti klädda med turkiskt papper. Utanför kolonnerna på vardera sidan en rad med fem lådor. Flera lådor är invändigt klädda med starkt rött siden.
På dörrarnas insidor och lådornas framsidor dokor med groteskornament samt bilder av kärlekspar, jakt, ridderliga idrotter och dans.
