Description
Svenska: Joannes van den Hecke efter kartong av Charles Le Brun. Av ylle, silke och silver (7-8 trådar per kv.cm) i gobelinteknink. Skänkt av Ludvig XIV (ej troligt, se nedan) till svenske ambassadören i Paris, greve Nils Bielke, vilkens dotter, Eva Bielke, var gift med Abraham Brahe. Tapetserien kom i Brahefamiljens ägo 1697. Nils Bielke gav den som faddergåva till sin dotterson Nils Brahe.
Sign. "Joannes Franciscus van den Hecke" samt "BB" med mellanliggande sköld.
1600- tal.
Enligt traditionen har tapetsviten ansetts vara en gåva till Nils Bielke från Ludvig XIV, detta är dock troligen felaktigt. Troligare är att Nils Bielke köpt tapetsviten på 1670-talet, kanske under en resa under sin tid som ambassadör i Paris. Det verkar inte vara sannolikt att den franske kungen skulle trotsa sitt eget påbud om att gynna den inhemska produktionen och köpa en brysselvävd tapet för att skänka bort.
