Summary[edit]

Description
English: Title: The "Haunted Hotel" in downtown Beaumont, Texas. Below its name, the sign reads, "Once You Check In, You May Never Check Out"

Physical description: 1 photograph : digital, tiff file, color.

Notes: The source of the whimsical sign is not widely reported. It hangs on the old Rosemont Hotel, although another sign, now hanging sideways below the "Haunted" one in this photograph, identifies it as the "New Rosemont," where rooms could be had for "$1.00 and up." That probably dates to the hotel's opening in 1893, when it was indeed "new" by the standards of the day. As of 2014, the Italianate-style building is one of the oldest, though barely, surviving structures in Beaumont.; Title, date, and keywords based on information provided by the photographer.; Gift; The Lyda Hill Foundation; 2014; (DLC/PP-2014:054).; Forms part of: Lyda Hill Texas Collection of Photographs in Carol M. Highsmith's America Project in the Carol M. Highsmith Archive.; Credit line: The Lyda Hill Texas Collection of Photographs in Carol M.
