The 'Baileys' cutter is shown passing the Eddystone Lighthouse; three other vessels are depicted in the background.

Inscribed: "The Baileys Cutter, Capt. Sutter Passing the Eddystone Lighthouse Drawn by T. Soutter" and below the title "Published 4th April 1795 by Laurie & Whittle 53 Fleet Street London".

This print is No. 4 in a series of six prints mostly of exercise vessels, but it is one of the two that do not appear in available records of excise cutters such as Steel's Navy list.

Hand-coloured. Technique includes roulette work. Plate 4.
