Cheek of cheek! The out-weighed HighSchool boys were giving Cobber a dose of Cob-ber medicine. It was a mass-play—a battering-ram assault. And Gridley got it over! An inch past theline Winters tripped and went down, coveringthe ball. Touchdown! Five to five—a tie score! Kick the goal! came the hoarse appealfrom the east side seats. Kick as you never kicked before! Gridley fans could fairly hear themselvesshake now. Hats were off and waving. TheHigh School girls stood up, frantically wavingtheir crimson and gold banners. A massed rush was made for Gridlevs • goal, but it didnt get far. With eleven min-utes left to play, and a lead on the score, Bad-ger had resolved on using up all the reservestrength, if need be. Gridley had not yetcalled on any substitutes, and several capableyoung subs waited just outside the lines, frantic for a call. Let Cobber be rough, if thatsuited the college men. Cobber lost the ball on downs. Then Gridley took the pigskin. Play for time, was Badgers signaledorder. Xot much in the delay l
