English: U.S. Coast Guard Lt. Lee Gorlin, left, with the Maritime Security Response Team, and Navy Lt. Orenthal Adderson relay information back to U.S. Sixth Fleet's Task Force 65 and Coast Guard Atlantic Area in order to shift tactical control to the U.S. Coast Guard and their boarding team June 27, 2012, aboard guided missile frigate USS Simpson (FFG 56) in the Atlantic Ocean. Simpson supported African Maritime Law Enforcement Partnership operations, a branch of the Africa Partnership Station (APS), in an effort to build maritime safety and security on and off shore. APS is an international security cooperation initiative facilitated by Commander, U.S. Naval Forces Europe-Africa aimed at strengthening global maritime partnerships through training and collaborative activities in order to improve maritime safety and security in Africa. |
