Bush (CVN 77), sing "Anchors Aweigh" for retired Army Master Sgt. Loren Hoercher, right, during a community service project Aug. 21, 2012, in Newport News, Va. Eight chief selects assigned completed landscaping tasks at Hoercher's home during their six-week chief petty officer induction phase. Hoercher was a member of the Anzio Beachhead Veterans of World War II and the liaison to the guided-missile cruiser USS Anzio (CG 68), which served as part of the George H.W. Bush carrier strike group in 2011. George H.W. Bush was undergoing a year-long scheduled maintenance period at Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Virginia to refurbish shipboard systems and maintain the vessel.
