Description
English: U.S. Navy petty officers 1st class, left, selected for advancement to chief petty officer and assigned to the aircraft carrier USS George H.W. Bush (CVN 77), sing "Anchors Aweigh" for retired Army Master Sgt. Loren Hoercher, right, during a community service project Aug. 21, 2012, in Newport News, Va. Eight chief selects assigned completed landscaping tasks at Hoercher's home during their six-week chief petty officer induction phase. Hoercher was a member of the Anzio Beachhead Veterans of World War II and the liaison to the guided-missile cruiser USS Anzio (CG 68), which served as part of the George H.W. Bush carrier strike group in 2011. George H.W. Bush was undergoing a year-long scheduled maintenance period at Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Virginia to refurbish shipboard systems and maintain the vessel.
