NORFOLK – Navy Diver 3rd Class Wylie Shields, a native of Ocean Springs, Miss., assigned to Mid-Atlantic Regional Maintenance Center, enters the water to cleanmarine growth from fouled seawater piping on the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt. TR is preparing to get underway to join the rest of the ships of the Theodore Roosevelt Carrier Strike Group composed of the guided-missile cruiser USS Normandy, and the guided-missile destroyers USS Winston S. Churchill, USS Forrest Sherman and USS Farragut to conduct operations in the 5th, 6th and 7th Fleet areas of responsibility. |
