VENLO'S BURGERIJ DANKT HET NOORDEN; Weekjournaal van Polygoon Hollands Nieuws van week 40 uit 1947.; In de Tweede Wereldoorlog werd een grote groep inwoners van Venlo geëvacueerd naar Groningen, Friesland en Drente. Een afvaardiging van de Venlose burgerij is nu met twee grote poppen, voorstellende de reus Valuas en zijn vrouw, naar Groningen en Leeuwarden getrokken om te bedanken. SHOTS: - een bonte optocht trekt met vlaggen en vaandels, een muziekkorps en typisch Limburgse dingen als Valuas, schutterskoningen, prins Carnaval ed door de straten van Leeuwarden en Groningen; - notabelen gaan het stadhuis van Leeuwarden binnen; - de burgemeester van Leeuwarden, mr. A.A.M. van der Meulen kijkt, met gezelschap op de stoep van het stadhuis, naar Valuas en vendelzwaaiers; veel publieke belangstelling.
