Notes
  • Significance: Built around 1906 by Barker-Lepine, this building served the educational needs of the plantation children until its closing in 1952. The structure follows and open construction, with a perimeter gallery and a modified hip-gabled tin roof that creates a four sided porch along the sides. At one time there was a chimney of pipe and brick for a cast-iron stove, In 1965, Hurricane Betsy knocked the cypress board and batten building off its brick footings.
