- Deleting source images might break the “attribution path” for the new SVG image, which breaks licenses such as the GFDL.
- Complaints about PNG images being replaced by inferior quality SVG images, or even by factually incorrect ones cannot be checked by the public or the members of a WikiProject.

It is still possible to post a normal deletion request for superseded images (and/or to request deletion of "superseded" images for other reasons), but the template {{vector version available}} and its redirect {{SupersededSVG}} are not automatically a reason to delete; specific, detailed rationales for deletion should be provided. Most important: those points listed above have to be checked first. See also Commons:Deletion policy#Redundant/bad quality.
