File:CPR LogoBlack.jpg[edit]

I see you nominated File:CPR_LogoBlack.jpg for deletion. I did also because it is a logo for a university at commons, so I just assumed it was a copyvio. I asked for it to be restored per the discussion below, but am not sure what to do now:

Now undeleted and restored at the article. So, what about the license? Who actually owns it? Is it to be public domain. You decide and then we can work out the wheres and hows of the license. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 15:06, 9 December 2012 (UTC)
Well, it was designed by our student body, as a gift to our college, but since licensing is not a big deal in India, we did not file for a license. Also, because, it is something which is safe in the public domain, and we have no issues. If you think I should apply for a license for the image as the ex- head of the student body, please let me know as to how I should go about it. I along with the co designer can apply for the license together of you think it is necessary. Regards.--24.96.190.19 (talk) 04:58, 10 December 2012 (UTC)

Please advise. Many thanks, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 03:15, 11 December 2012 (UTC)

I think the best way forward would be to ask for permission via COM:OTRS from the designers of the logo, as we have to assume everything is copyrighted if not proven otherwise. Also if the image is in the public domain, than the CC-BY-SA-3.0 tag is not applicable for the logo. User:Armbrust (Local talk - en.Wikipedia talk) 09:59, 12 December 2012 (UTC)
I've asked the uploader to send in permission [1]. Would it be okay to swap in the otrs pending template? Many thanks for the assist. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 02:23, 13 December 2012 (UTC)
No. User:Armbrust (Local talk - en.Wikipedia talk) 08:57, 13 December 2012 (UTC)
Ok. I'll give that a score of 10 for both clarity and bluntness. :( Anna Frodesiak (talk) 09:13, 13 December 2012 (UTC)
Oops. I meant to say Yes. It looks like I was still a little sleepy after just waking up and answered the "Objections?" question at Commons:Deletion requests/File:CPR LogoBlack.jpg here instead there. Face-blush.svg User:Armbrust (Local talk - en.Wikipedia talk) 21:58, 13 December 2012 (UTC)

Possible deletion of pictures added to Geoffrey Bagley page[edit]

Hi Armbrust, I can see that two pics which I have uploaded are tagged for deletion but I am not sure how to respond to that. I hope messaging you like this is ok? My rationale for assuming that the pics are ok to upload is as follows:

  1. The picture of the Escort Frigate was drawn by Bagley for the Canadian War Office when he was working for them seconded to the Royal Canadian Navy from 1939 to 45. Therefore I have assumed that the copywrite holder is the Canadian Government and not Geoffrey Bagley, therefore there should be no copywrite issues in the same way that the USA Government does not copywrite its images.
  2. The oil painting of the speed boat is in my personal collection. I own the painting and I own the image and picture which I have used of the painting. Therefore there are no copywrite issues there.

I hope my assumptions are correct and that the pictures are allowed to remain. If you need any further information please message me. Regards, Bagley59 —Preceding comment was added at 16:01, 1 April 2013‎ (UTC)

Sorry, but that's not enough. (1) There is no similarity between the Government works of the US and Canada. (2) That you own the painting doesn't mean, that you also have copyright for it. BTW in the meantime both images were deleted by Ronhjones (talk contribs blocks protections deletions moves rights rights changes). Deletion request[edit]

Okay, okay, I'm sorry. I uploaded LizCochran1.jpg for w:Wikipedia:Files for upload. The requester had said the images were all Army images, and I took his word. I should have just checked. I will always check before I upload. Citrusbowler (talk) 23:39, 12 June 2013 (UTC)

No problem. Not everything on these websites was created by them, sometimes they use content from other sources. User:Armbrust (Local talk - en.Wikipedia talk) 04:23, 13 June 2013 (UTC)
