Notes The portrait features E.I. Karzinkina (née Medvedkova) who was a member of the Russian merchant family Karzinkin, the first wife of Ivan Ivanovich Karzinkin (1825 — ca. 1881), a merchant of the top guild, a tea dealer and also a paper manufacturer, a co-owner of the Balashikha Paper Manufactory. The author’s version of the portrait, painted in 1840s, is housed in the Museum of Vasily Tropinin and Contemporary Moscow Artists.
