English: Boris Godunov is an opera by Modest Mussorgsky. The work was composed between 1868 and 1872, in St. Petersburg, Russia. It is Mussorgsky's only completed opera and is considered his masterpiece.
Italiano: Boris Godunov, in russo Борис Годунов, è un'opera lirica di Modest Musorgskij, su libretto proprio, basato sul dramma omonimo di Aleksàndr Sergeevič Puškin e sulla Storia dello Stato Russo di Nikolai Karamzin. E' la sola opera lirica completata da Musorgskij ed è considerata il suo capolavoro; oltre ad essere una pietra miliare della scuola russa ottocentesca, influenzerà in maniera non indifferente la musica europea di gran parte del Novecento.
