This was the Waterloo Constitutional Club, built in 1894. Charles Scarisbrick, who laid the foundation stone, was one of the Southport Scarisbrick family. He contested Municipal elections in Southport as a Conservative Candidate, became Mayor of Southport and County Magistrate and was very philanthropic. The other name is that of Conservative statesman George Nathaniel Curzon (1859-1925) who was then the local Member of Parliament. He served as Viceroy of India between 1898 and 1911, and was created Marquess Curzon of Kedleston. Thanks to Crosby Library services for this information.
