Shoulder Sleeve Insignia[edit]

Description[edit]

• On a shield, oblong in shape and arched at both ends, 3 inches (7.62 cm) in height and 2 inches (5.08 cm) in width overall, within a ⅛ inch (.32 cm) white border, a vertical white arrow between 2 inwardly curved white arrows. The upper area between the curved arrows is red and the balance is blue.

• Combat Service Identification Badge: None Authorized.

Symbolism[edit]

• The sweeping prongs simulate the elements of the unit in attack and in resembling a trident also allude to amphibious assault.

Distinctive Unit Insignia[edit]

Description[edit]

• A metal and enamel device 1⅛ inches (2.86 cm) in height (arrow wise) and 1¼ inches (3.18 cm) in width (bow wise) consisting of a gold colored metal base with a black bow, bent and stringed black and a red arrow, barbed and feathered red, nocked and drawn up to the point, the shaft passing over a light blue annulet bearing on the dexter portion the word “SWIFT” and on the sinister portion the word “TRUE” reading from left to right, all in gold color letters.

Symbolism[edit]

1. The bow with arrow refers to the mobility and striking power of the organization, further emphasized by the words “SWIFT” and “TRUE.”
2. The bow and arrow also allude to the silence and stealth of movement and surprise attack, the arrow, straight and true, implying constant advance and the overcoming of all obstacles.
3. The red arrow, the Indian symbol of war, is also emblematic of fire power.
4. The annulet symbolizes fidelity and tenacity of purpose.
5. The color black signifies wisdom and prudence, the red, courage; the blue (light blue for Infantry), loyalty and faith; and the gold; inspiration, zeal and achievement.
