  2. A chain is symbolic of strong support and its links suggest a coordinated unit.
  3. The chain also augments the motto and a gold chain denotes durability.
  4. The Old Man of the Mountain, the mountain peak and the pine tree refer to New Hampshire, Vermont and Maine, the tri-state home area of the organization.
  • Crest: That for the regiments and separate battalions of the Army Reserve: The statue of the Minute Man, Captain John Parker (H.H. Kitson, sculptor), stands on the common in Lexington, Massachusetts.

  • A gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a disc divided vertically buff and scarlet bearing a stylized silhouette representation of the “Old Man of the Mountain” on the left, a mountain peak in the center and a pine tree on the right, all overlaid and of green with a white outline all within a gold chain of sixteen links and above a gold scroll around base inscribed “LINKS OF STRENGTH” in black.

  2. It was redesignated effective 2006-09-17, with the description and symbolism updated for the 167th Support Battalion.

  1. The flag has a solid background with an embroidered American eagle displayed centered thereon.
  2. In its right talon the eagle holds an olive branch; in its left talon, a bundle of 13 arrows, all in proper colors.
  3. Its beak grasps a scroll inscribed with the unit motto.
  4. Below the eagle is a scroll inscribed with the designation of the organization.
  5. On the eagle’s breast is embroidered the shield of the coat of arms and the crest is above the eagle’s head.

  5. Letters and Numbers: 3½ inches high unless otherwise indicated.
  • Design
  1. Guidons are made of bunting cloth or nylon, unless otherwise specified.
  2. Design elements will appear on the opposite side as if printed through the material.
  3. Letters and numerals will read from left to right on each side of the Guidon.
  4. When a SSI is authorized for use on the guidon, the design will appear proper on both sides.
  • The guidon for the headquarters company or detachment of a Support Group is the same colors and design as the Support Group distinguishing flag.
