The 1961 Ferrari 250 GTO prototype was nicknamed "Papero" and built by Giotto Bizzarrini based on either the Ferrari 250 GT s/n 0523GT or the 1960 Ferrari 250 GT SWB 1791GT.[1][2] It was first tested at Monza in September 1961, before the Italian GP on 10 September 1961.[1]
