221 West 134th Street between Adam Clayton Powell Jr. and Frederick Douglass Blvds. in the Harlem neighborhood of Manhattan, New York City, is one of a series of 8 row houses built in the same style c.1910, and subsequently converted into apartment buildings. Many of the row houses were bought by developers with the intent to renovate them and resell them as single-family residences. #221 was purchased for $750,000 with the intention of reselling it for $1.6 million. As of 2009, it was listed for $599,000 -- unrenovated -- and it was still available for purchase at the time this photograph was taken. (Sources: NYC GIS map and NY Times article)
