The southeast corner building at 742 Hamilton Building was known for many years as the S B Anewalt building. It was the home of the S. B. Anewalt Hattery and Furrier, which opened in 1859. The building dated to 1869 when it replaced an earlier structure. S. B. Anewalt eventually became the second-oldest business in Allentown, only the M. S. Young Hardware store having a longer tenure in business. The Anewalt store closed in 1945.

With the closure, the building was sold by the Anewalt family in February, 1950 and housed a succession of businesses. It was purchased in 2017 by the City Center Allentown corporation, who raised the structure in early 2018. The site is currently being redeveloped as the Five City Center Innovation Tower NIZ project.
