English: From 1869 to 1947, the Japanese Army had been named as the Imperial Japanese Army (IJA). The IJA was disorganized under the Pacifist Constitution in 1947. In 1950, a newly organization (National Police Reserve) was founded and this was later renamed the National Safety Force in 1952. The National Safety Force became the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force (JGSDF) in 1954.
