English: The rectangular, gable-roofed Ascension of Our Lord Russian Orthodox Church in Karluk, Kodiak Island Borough, Alaska was built in 1888 by Karluk Packing Company for its Native workers on their request. It was erected close to the previous church, which was built before 1878. The Ascension of Our Lord Church featured a Greek Revival architrave and a belfry with round arches. The roof on the belfry was more reminiscent of a Roman dome than an onion dome, but the octagonal cupola over the nave and the division of the building into exterior elements of sanctuary, nave, and tower were common to Alaskan Russian Orthodox churches (HABS No. AK-77).
