Aycliff has developed from a former 1950 council housing estate at the Western end of Dover, Kent, England. The named area includes the nearby sea cliff and beach, and the site of the former stationmaster's house (Aycliff House), which became the King Lear pub n 1937, and was demolished and replaced by flats. Part of the housing estate was demolished to make way for the expansion of the A20 road into a dual carriageway in 1985.
