---|---|---|
The so-called Bacchus Room of the Palace on the Water was constructed for Stanisław Herakliusz Lubomirski in the late 17th-century and adorned with Dutch blue tiles (hence its French name Chambre dite de faïence) and a painting by Jacob Jordaens depicting Silenus and Bacchantes. During the preparations to blow up the building by German forces in 1944, the room was destroyed. Many of the original 17th-century Delft tiles fell off (the original is only the darker part on the right-top of the entry). The rest was reconstructed after the war by H. and R. Husarscy from Kraków. |
