Deutsch: Zur Verhinderung eines Blowouts besitzen Bohr- bzw. Förderanlagen eine Kombination meist mehrerer Ventile, die so genannten Blowout-Preventer (BOP), die dafür vorgesehen sind, im Fall eines Überdrucks das Bohrloch abzuschotten.
English: A blowout preventer (BOP) is a large valve that can seal off at the surface wellhead a well being drilled or worked over.
Français : Les Blow Out Preventer, ou blocs obturateurs de puits (BOP) sont des valves de sécurité utilisées sur les appareils de forage de l'industrie pétrolière.
Italiano: Il blowout preventer o BOP è un particolare marchingegno utilizzato nel campo della perforazione petrolifera che ha il compito di mettere in sicurezza i pozzi di idrocarburi, nel caso questi dovessero accidentalmente migrare all'esterno del pozzo, durante la trivellazione o perforazione dello stesso.
