  • English: Hermaphroditus asleep. Greek marble, Roman copy from the Imperial Era (2nd century CE) after a Greek original, now at the Louvre, Paris (purchased in 1807). The mattress (Carrara marble) was sculpted in 1619 by Gianlorenzo Bernini, commissioned by Cardinal Scipion Borghese.

  • Italiano: Ermafrodito dormiente, copia romana di originale greco. Epoca imperiale, sec.II d.C. Il materasso è stato scolpito e aggiunto da Gianlorenzo Bernini su commissione del cardinale Scipione Borghese. Fino al 1807 fece parte della Collezione Borghese, poi nel 1807 fu ceduto a Napoleone, che lo destinò al Museo del Louvre, dove si trova tuttora.
