English: The early monastery in Castledermot was founded in 812 by the son of Aed Roin, king of Corcu Bascind (see Gwynn and Hadcock). To the surviving remainings belong the western portal in an Romanesque style, a round tower, and high crosses, all on the site of St. James' Church, Castledermot.
